Olympic Steeplechase Champion Conseslus Kipruto Won't Miss World Championships After All

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

On Thursday DyeStat shared the news that Conseslus Kipruto would miss the IAAF World Outdoor Championships because of an ankle injury. This was based on a report from News Folo.

However, on Friday, Kipruto's agent Tweeted that Kipruto will in fact toe the line in London at the World Championships. He twisted his ankle recently and he expects to recover in time to compete in London.

Kipruto has 16 days before the preliminary heats of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Below is the original report...

Shubham Jain of News Folo reports that Conseslus Kipruto will miss the IAAF World Outdoor Championships due to an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old Kenyan won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Rio Olympic Games in a Olympic record 8:03.28. He also captured two silver medals at the 2013 and 2015 IAAF World Outdoor Championships.

Kipruto has only finished one race this year, an 8:04.63 outing at the Rome Diamond League meeting. He was scheduled to race at the Ostrava Golden Spike, but withdrew prior to the meet.

Kipruto did toe the line at the Rabat Diamond League meeting last week, but was unable to finish.

With two weeks to go before the World Championships in London, there is not enough time for both his ankle to heal and to ensure he is fit.
