After Disappointing Races in Lausanne and London, Dalilah Muhammad Says She Will Be Ready for World ChampionshipsBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Dalilah Muhammad has had an up and down 2017 season. After winning Olympic gold in the 400-meter hurdles in 2016, she has shown flashes of brilliance and had several disappointing races this year. After winning the USATF Outdoor Championships 400-meter hurdles in a world-leading 52.64, a personal best, Muhammad raced at the Lausanne and London Diamond League meets. She dropped out of the Lausanne meet after the first hurdle and she finished sixth in London in a time of 54.99. RunBlogRun and Stuart Weir report that Muhammad suffered a hamstring cramp in Lausanne and it continued to bother her in London. She will return home and continue to train for the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in London next month. Previously, after a disappointing race at the Prefontaine Classic, Muhammad came back a month later to win an exciting race at the USATF Outdoor Championships, a race considered the deepest 400-meter hurdles race of all time. She has roughly a month before she will toe the line in London. More news |
