Phil Knight Opens Up To Register-Guard About Hayward Redesign ProcessPublished by
Phil Knight Talks Publicly About Hayward Field Reconstruction By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor It's interesting that Nike co-founder Phil Knight sat down with the Register-Guard's Austin Meek and discussed the past couple of years worth of maneuvering on Hayward Field. But it's also good, and belongs in the historical record, even as Knight says, "When those bulldozers in July knock that East Grandstand down, I am the most reviled man in Eugene." His take is a worthy counterpoint to Tinker Hatfield's argument against tearing down the iconic structure, which is also the logo for TrackTown USA. It shows the stature of Hatfield that he can publicly disagree with Knight, but it also appears that it's merely a disagreement among friends. More news |
