Nine Aggies represent five countries at IAAF World Championships in Beijing

BEIJING, China – A crew of nine Aggies, representing five countries, will compete in the 15th IAAF World Outdoor Championships, which begin this Saturday in the 2008 Olympic stadium named the Bird's Nest.
The competition runs through August 30 with daily coverage of the meet available through NBC on its Universal and network channels. Saturday's opening day of action will actually air on Friday evening locally due to the 13-hour time difference.
Four Texas A&M athletes will compete for the United States – Jessica Beard (4x400 relay), Shamier Little(400 hurdles), Jeneba Tarmoh (200 meters, 4x100 relay) and Shelbi Vaughan (discus).
Five additional Aggies competing for various countries include Fabrice Lapierre of Australia (long jump),Latario Collie (triple jump) and Shavez Hart (100, 200, 4x100 relay) from the Bahamas, Bralon Taplin of Grenada (400 meters) and Trinidad & Tobago's Deon Lendore (400m, 4x400 relay).
Medal contenders predicted by Track & Field News includes Little in the 400 hurdles, where she is tabbed for third place behind Jamaica's Kaliese Spencer and defending champion Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic. The magazine also predicts a gold medal sweep for the United States women in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays which include A&M's Tamoh and Beard, respectively.
