AUBURN - Thirteen former members of the Auburn men's and women's track and field teams, including two former world champions, are set to compete at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, to be contested Aug. 15-23 in Berlin, Germany.

Headlining the field among the former Tigers is Jamaica's Kerron Stewart, who owns the fastest time in the world this year in the women's 100 meters, with a time of 10.75 seconds. In addition to the 100 meters, she is also expected to be part of a strong Jamaican 4x100-meter relay team.

Other former Tigers on the Jamaican squad are Vonette Dixon (100-meter hurdles), Lacena Golding-Clark (100-meter hurdles),Jovanee Jarrett (long jump) and Maurice Smith (decathlon).

Six members of the Bahamian squad competed at Auburn. They include Timicka Clarke (4x100-meter relay), Avard Moncur (4x400-meter relay), Osbourne Moxey (long jump), Leevan Sands (triple jump), Shamar Sands (110-meter hurdles) and Donald Thomas (high jump).

The team from Trinidad & Tobago will include Marc Burns (100 meters, 4x100-meter relay) and Josanne Lucas (400-meter hurdles).

Former Tigers have won four titles at the World Championships, which are held every other year, including two who are competing against this year. Thomas won the high jump at the 2007 meet, while Moncur won the 400 meters in 2001. Harvey Glace was Auburn's first world champion, helping the U.S. 4x100-meter relay team win in 1987, and Samuel Matete won the 400-meter hurdles in 1991.

Burns will be the only former Tiger in action on the opening day, taking part in the opening heats of the men's 100 meters.
